TELLING OUR STORY

WE ARE GOLF was formed to communicate the story of golf as a major benefactor to U.S. economies, charities, and environments to elected officials, members of the media and other audiences. By focusing on those whose livelihoods are tied to the game, and sharing the stories of golf’s impact on people and communities, WE ARE GOLF has leveled the playing field for thousands of small businesses that make the industry what it is today.

WE ARE GOLF illustrates the industry’s health and wellness benefits, its unparalleled charitable giving, and its environmental sustainability initiatives.

Golf is an $84.1 billion industry, supports over two million jobs and provides $58.7 billion in annual wage income for the U.S.

CHARITY

Every year, approximately 143,000 charity golf events are held, raising an average of $3.94 billion.

DEI

Cross-industry collaboration focuses on diversity, equity and inclusion in the game and business of golf.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

Around 12,000 steps are taken per 18-hole round, exceeding the commonly recommended daily number of steps. Walking 2.5 hours per week reduces the risk of a heart attack by 30-40%.

ENVIRONMENT

Golf courses offer important green grass recreational outlets for communities that reduce the effect of climate change, provide local pollinator habitats and mitigate storm water runoff.
