2018 National Golf Day Community Service Project - April 24
Our inaugural 2017 Community Service Project was such a success, that for the second year in a row, we will converge on the National Mall for a ½ day event focused on beautification and preservation of this area in conjunction with National Golf Day on Capitol Hill.
Working with Michael Stachowicz, Turf Management Specialist of the National Park Service, we will focus on projects from the U.S. Capitol Building to 14th Street. These projects may include such activities as laying sod, raking, edging, overseeding, aerating, brushing walkways and sprucing up gravel pathways. All participants will be divided into teams and each team will be assigned a team captain who will oversee the project.
Snacks and water, as well as appropriate equipment and supplies will be provided. A boxed lunch will also be provided for all participants.
The community service project will run from approximately 8:00 am – Noon on Tuesday, April 24 with a briefing meeting being held from 4:30 – 6:00 pm on Monday, April 23 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, which is the host hotel for National Golf Day.
Transportation to the National Mall from the Hyatt Regency will be provided, as well as return transportation.
We are still in the process of finalizing the event. Once finalized, you can expect to receive additional information on:
- Specific tasks to be completed
- What team you will be on
- Your team captain
- Additional logistical information
We look forward to this exciting time in D.C. and to enhancing the beauty of the National Mall for the surrounding community and all visitors to the D.C. area.
