PGA of America Partners with Radius Sports Group to Elevate Supplier Inclusion Program
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (July 10, 2018) – The PGA of America has partnered with Radius Sports Group, a sports and sustainability firm, to advance the inclusion of diverse-owned suppliers in procurement opportunities within the $84.1 billion golf industry.
Continuing its efforts in supplier inclusion, the PGA looks to catalyze and grow its matchmaking program in support of PGA Championship operations and the Association more broadly.
Radius will work with the PGA to develop a turnkey, matchmaking platform for the 2019 PGA Championship, and to invite and engage minority-, women-, LGBT-, and Veteran-owned businesses to participate in the business of golf. The PGA and Radius will identify diverse and locally-owned suppliers to work with larger prime, or tier one, suppliers for execution at the PGA’s Championships, which generate substantial entertainment and tourism dollars within host cities and surrounding areas. Accordingly, building a supply chain representative of the consumer population in these cities is imperative.
“Radius Sports Group understands the importance of inclusion within golf business operations and is the right partner, as we continue to make advancements in this important area,” said PGA of America Senior Director of Diversity & Inclusion Sandy Cross. “Consumers desire to see others like themselves, who share similar backgrounds and life experiences, working within and benefiting from the golf industry. Along with our prime suppliers, the PGA of America has enjoyed success in partnering with diverse-owned businesses, and we want to take that to the next level.”
Radius works with sports franchises, facilities, golf courses, suppliers and governing bodies to deliver revenue growth and reduce costs, while positively impacting society and the environment. Through the partnership, the PGA will further build its database of diverse business enterprises, which represent a wide range of backgrounds, goods and services.
Prospective local and diverse-owned businesses can apply to provide a variety of goods and services to the PGA and its tier-one suppliers. These connections will be made through outreach in advance of Championship events. Opportunities, including those for the 101st PGA Championship at Bethpage Black in Long Island, New York, will be listed on the PGA’s social responsibility site: PGASupplierInclusion.org.
“We’re thrilled to work with the PGA of America, as golf is uniquely positioned to promote diverse and local supplier opportunities, particularly within Championship tournaments,” said Radius Sports Group Principal Gina Rizzi. “One of the obstacles to increasing inclusion within golf has been a lack of process for identifying qualified diverse suppliers. Our partnership with the PGA streamlines the process to embrace diversity, while growing the game.”
