Court Denies Injunction in Sharp Park Case

Judge notes that experts for both sides agree the frog population has increased and plaintiffs failed to show a likelihood of irreparable harm.

SAN FRANCISCO – Federal district court judge Susan Illston, in a ruling issued late Tuesday afternoon, denied a preliminary injunction sought by environmental activists seeking to close the historic Sharp Park Golf Course, owned and operated by the City and County of San Francisco but located in neighboring Pacifica.

The parkland property — owned by San Francisco — is located on the San Mateo County coast and used for a public golf course. The goal of the legislation is to restore the land to its natural habitat for inclusion in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
