Women's Golf Day is a global movement that celebrates girls and women playing golf and learning the skills that last a lifetime.
2017 Women’s Golf Day (WGD) was held Tuesday, June 6. This global, women-friendly player development initiative introduces new players and engages existing golfers in a highly inclusive manner.
According to WGD Event Founder Elisa Gaudet, more than 29,000 women and girls participate in this one-day, four-hour event—two hours of clinic or nine holes of golf plus a two-hour social networking experience.
“I am delighted to report that more than 659 golf locations spanning 46 countries will participate in our 2017 Women’s Golf Day,” said Gaudet. “Thousands of women around the globe will pick up a golf club for the very first time and will be introduced to the game in a fun and upbeat environment.”
The World Golf Foundation (WGF) has been a supporter of Women's Golf Day since its inception in 2016. This year, nearly every major allied golf association around the globe is also lending support to this women-friendly event.
A special partnership has been established with PGA TOUR Superstore, the official retail merchandiser and the “go-to” place to secure golf-related product. The retailer also hosted “free” WGD events at 25 locations throughout the U.S. WGD product partners include headwear supplier AHEAD and accessory supplier GloveIt; both partner companies are led by female chief executives.

This is an opportunity for any girl or woman to try golf for the first time in a fun, non-intimidating environment alongside existing golfers. Participants of all ages can either take a lesson or play 9 holes of golf with others who are playing for the first time, or have been playing for years.
This one day event, a four hour experience, creates critical mass through a collaborative effort and allows women anywhere to go to a golf course or retail location and enjoy a few hours of golf and mingling.
We are all looking for ways to interact in a meaningful way. Socializing and staying connected with family, friends and work colleagues is very important. Golf offers a perfect platform to create connections and to be part of a larger initiative.
On the same day at multiple locations around the world, everyone is participating either in a store or on a golf course. Don’t wait for an invitation to make a difference!
This is a collaborative effort that supports the interest of women wanting to learn golf and get more involved. This growing network of women are joining together to support each other and enjoy all the benefits of golf. There are numerous resources to engage and support any skill and interest level.
Everyone is encouraged from the beginner golfer, those playing just for fun, business networker or competitive player. We are working with golf management companies, retailers and organizations to create a one day experience that leads to a greater interest in golf by women for themselves and their families.
